Review FOREO BEAR, Before & After. Is it Worth It?

This post is my FOREO BEAR review before and after using it for half a year. Did I get any FOREO BEAR side effects? Is the FOREO BEAR worth it? Well, read on to know what the FOREO BEAR did to my skin.

Honestly, I took the longest time to review this, but I think this should be a great read for you, especially for those that are really planning to purchase FOREO's BEAR. I started using the BEAR a few weeks after I started using FOREO's LUNA 3. After that, I used the FOREO BEAR every morning for about a month before life happened. Long story short, I was struggling with issues and I haven't been in my right mind, nor did I care much about skincare at that time. I also stopped using skincare at all until I finally felt like myself again last month. Since I'm already back on track with my skincare routine, I continued using the BEAR so I could give a proper review.

So this is going to be a lengthy review, I'll be sharing with you the timeline of me using the BEAR but before I head straight to it, let me list down what the FOREO BEAR actually does.

WHAT IS THE FOREO BEAR

FOREO claims it to be the world's first FDA-cleared medical microcurrent device with Anti-Shock System. The BEAR is said to combine anti-ageing microcurrent technology with T-Sonic massage that safely & effectively trains & tones muscles in the face & neck. FOREO proudly states that the BEAR offers the same treatments found at celebrity spas with pro-level power, for lasting results.

The BEAR's main power is to improve facial contour, sagging, and the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles in just 2 mins. It's meant to be a quick and easy professional spa routine from the comfort of home.

What is Microcurrent Treatment?

Microcurrent Treatment we're referring to here is a facial treatment that is a popular treatment usually done is facial spas. When this kind of treatment was first introduced, it came with a huge machine; that's why only spa and beauty clinics had it, and each treatment indeed came with a heavy price tag. But technology runs fast these days; as microcurrent treatments have become a high demand over the years, people are looking for cheaper options. This is where home microcurrent treatments came into the market, and FOREO is among the pioneers that invented a home edition for microcurrents.

How To Use The FOREO BEAR

Using FOREO's BEAR is very easy but let me just explain the basic steps on how to properly use it.

1. Prep The Skin

Make sure both BEAR and your face are clean and dry, with no remaining residue. The best time I usually use the BEAR is right after I wash & dry my face in the morning. Then apply a thin layer of FOREO's SERUM SÉRUM SERUM evenly across all areas of the face/neck you wish to treat. Only a pea size of serum is sufficient enough for each use.

2. Start The Device

There are 2 ways you can use the BEAR, either using the application or by pressing the universal button to turn it on. You can also adjust the microcurrent intensity by quick-pressing the button once for each level, and double-press to turn off T-Sonic. But if you want more features and pre-installed treatments, you'll have to access more options via the app.

3. Lift The BEAR

Don't worry if you don't know how to glide the BEAR on your face, because through FOREO's app, they show a mini video each time you use their pre-installed treatments. After a while, you'll know exactly what to do. Refer to the picture below.

You'll have to lightly press both metallic spheres to your skin and slowly glide the device upwards across your jawline, cheekbones, the forehead, around your lips and neck as desired. The way to properly glide it is by bringing it upwards and repeating it 3-4 times. But after a while, you'll indeed be creating your own treatment routine.

4. Finishing A Treatment

Once finished, press & hold the universal button for 3 seconds to turn off the device. But it will automatically turn off when you finish their pre-installed treatments via the app. However, I love using the BEAR without the app, as it automatically turns off after a few minutes of use which I find very convenient. Then either pat any remaining serum into your skin, or rinse and pat dry your face & device as preferred.

Treatments Available For The BEAR

When you first get the FOREO BEAR, I highly recommend you get used to it by using the pre-installed treatments above first. This is because it comes with a video guide on how to use and do the treatment. After some time you can start combining the treatments according to your preference. I rarely use these treatments now since I find it easier to use the BEAR without the app. But once in a while, it's best to do these treatments as it automatically sets the perfect intensity and microcurrent for each treatment.

FOREO's Application With The BEAR

It's still the same application used for the FOREO BEAR. I indeed appreciate how FOREO combines everything in one app, so if you have multiple FOREO products, it'll be easy to handle all your devices. I personally love how they created a bar on top of the app, which shows all your FOREO devices that you have connected. Makes me feel like I need to get all FOREO's devices offered. LOL...

FOREO updates their app regularly and every time they do, it makes me feel I got a FREE upgrade for my device. That's certainly a perk of having the app combined with your device, but sometimes the apps tend to crash which then limits the features.

For the BEAR, as I mentioned repeatedly, I prefer to use it without the app. I find it easier and hassle-free. Besides, I can adjust my manual settings even without the app. So if the app crashes, I don't get annoyed, as I do with the FOREO UFO. Overall, the settings for the FOREO BEAR are pretty much similar to the other devices FOREO offers. It also has an automatic connection with the app with a click of a button so that's good enough for me.

FOREO's SERUM SERUM SERUM

I'm keeping it short for this, or let me know if you want a detailed review, I'll do another post just for the serum.

What is FOREO's SERUM SERUM SERUM? It's claimed to be a youth-preserving, conductive serum that combines the antioxidant power of squalane and hydrating hyaluronic acid complex to renew and replenish the appearance of the skin. This serum is developed specifically for use with the designated FOREO BEAR Facial Toning Device.

It should be suitable for all skin types from Normal, Dry, Combination, and Oily. It's a vicious lightweight serum which targets skincare concerns such as fine lines, wrinkles and dryness. The serum is also mentioned to be free of parabens, and mineral oil, and contains less than one per cent of synthetic fragrances. This product is also vegan, and cruelty-free.

Its main ingredients are:

- Squalane: A powerful hydrator that helps fight free radicals and leaves the skin a visible glow.

- Hyaluronic Acid Complex: An intensely hydrating complex that replenishes the skin and helps it retain moisture over time.

Looking into the INCI list the ingredients do look promising. Honestly, I'm not sure what is the main conductive ingredient in the serum, however, I'm just guessing it's Algin since it's described as a gelling agent. Overall, the main ingredients of FOREO's Serum Serum Serum are great as it includes a lot of hydrating ingredients. One thing that I noticed is that this serum includes 'Gelatin'. FOREO does not highlight what kind of Gelatin it uses but they do mention that the serum is vegan. So I guess it should be plant-based gelatin.

My review of FOREO's SERUM SERUM SERUM is that this serum is acceptable. I don't really feel that it's that good because it dries up quickly sometimes making it hard to glide the BEAR on the face. Since gliding is one of the main reasons why this serum was made for though. FOREO doesn't seem to have other options of serums to use with the BEAR, so what else can I say. And the price, ain't helping much either. I hope FOREO comes out with a better formulation or better pricing offers for this serum.

MY REVIEW OF THE FOREO BEAR

This review will be lengthy because I've used this device for a while and am now already on my second bottle of FOREO's Serum Serum Serum. But, I guess this post might help you decide if the FOREO BEAR would be worth it in the long run. I've received a lot of requests for an updated review for my FOREO UFO and LUNA 3 which to cut things short is still a game-changer for my skin and I'm very dependable on it.

Let me take you back to the timeline of my early journey with the FOREO BEAR.

1. The First Week

I started using the BEAR a few weeks after I tried FOREO's LUNA 3 PLUS. My skin has already felt improved with the LUNA 3 but I was eager to see what the BEAR can do too. Honestly holding the BEAR in my hands felt like a dream as it has been on my wishlist ever since it launched. I've known about microcurrent treatments for so long but their devices are expensive, so the FOREO BEAR has always been like a dream device for me.

Once I got it, of course, I went full course and studied it. The first week I could say I've tried all the treatments offered by the device from FOREO's application. I was indeed having fun with all the features of the BEAR. I did not have a customized routine yet for the BEAR at that time as I was still exploring what it had to offer.

The results of my first week weren't really obvious, I couldn't see much difference. My husband of course said I still looked the same, nothing to 'WOW' about But I guess, he won't even notice if there was any difference. LOL... However, that's not important because I'm the one experiencing it. Anyhow, I did notice that I didn't get any acne at all during that week. It's like acne stopped producing for me and that did amaze me as I've been acne-prone for many years already.

2. The First Month

Starting from my second week, I started customizing my treatment with the BEAR. Instead of using the pre-installed treatments which I kinda grew lazy to use daily, I opted to use the BEAR without the app. It was possible to use without the app as with a click of the button on the device, it simply turns on and the frequency height is also adjustable from clicking the button. When the time is up, the device automatically turns off which is around a minute. Honestly, the BEAR is much easier to use than FOREO's UFO.

During that time I was still using FOREO's BEAR every day each morning, I was too lazy to use their pre-installed treatments so I customized my own treatment without the app. My treatment consists of 3 strokes on each side of my jaw area, then 3 strokes on each side going up from my cheeks. Then I proceed to the forehead and then to the neck. I usually will have the frequency to the max.

At that time I did feel my skin feeling amazing, I had no acne at all within that month but still, I couldn't say my skin looked younger or healthier. It still looked kind of dull to me. The best thing I'm absolutely satisfied with is that I didn't get any new acne. However, I still had blemishes and past acne marks which is still the main cause of my imperfect and dull skin look.

3. Two Months After

I'm not proud to say this but I'm still human. I was supposed to write my review on the FOREO BEAR by now but ongoing life issues made me struggle to be sane. I couldn't even put on proper skincare, so how was I supposed to even write and do work doing those times. My normal skincare routine usually is around 15 minutes each morning and night, sometimes longer. But during those months of struggling I didn't even care about my skincare, some days I didn't apply any at all. I was really in a bad state those months, which made me completely MIA from doing any skincare content until today.

So what happened to my skin during those months? My skin turned rough, it was even duller, I did start to get acne again, the big fat ones with a lot of puss that hurts. My face looked terrible just like my condition. Of course, I stopped using FOREO products completely. The best I tried for skincare was washing my face and putting on some moisturizer because my skin felt so uncomfortable and dirty. However, what amazed me was that the amount of acne that came back wasn't much then I used to have before I started using FOREO's LUNA & BEAR. It just popped out one or two in certain spots. Not a colony of them in a spot which I used to have all the time.

4. Starting Using FOREO again

When I had my problems sorted, of course, I came back to my senses and started taking care of myself again. I started using FOREO's LUNA first before I jumped using the BEAR again. I also started using applying skincare regularly as I used to before, but my skin was still suffering from neglecting it for a few months. My skin was still dull and I was still experiencing acne.

5. After A Month of Using FOREO again

Now I have stopped skincare reviews for months already. I did not take up any new products as I promised myself I won't be doing any reviews until I'm settled with seeing how FOREO's BEAR works on me. During this month, I used FOREO's LUNA & BEAR every single day including their UFO 3-to 4 times a week and the turnout is superb!

My acne is completely gone, I had no recurring acne until now. My skin is smooth and it feels great too. My skin looks brighter and my complexion isn't that bad either. I don't feel like my skin is dull anymore and my pigmentations, blemishes and acne marks are almost completely faded. I go out without makeup anymore and I don't seem to want and put foundation on anymore too. I can say I'm quite proud of my skin now.

Must I say for you to look closely because after comparing pictures of my skin 6 months ago compared to now, you can actually see the difference obviously. I have no acne and my skin is pretty smooth don't you think? For the V-Chin, I can't really say I succeeded with that as I grew larger overall (if you get what I mean) for the past few months. Can someone send me a device to help me slim down now because my skin issues are covered already. LOL...

So overall, if you ask me, would I recommend FOREO's BEAR? Indeed! But to be frank, I didn't just use FOREO's BEAR to get this skin result, I used the LUNA, UFO and BEAR together. To make sure these devices really worked, I declined all offers for facial reviews until now. Yes! I can say, I haven't had a facial for over a year now or probably longer. I only used FOREO's devices for my facials at home. The results are not bad, don't you think?

What I Don't Like About FOREO's BEAR

One thing only, the conductive serum is expensive. So expensive! And it doesn't even last over 3 months even if you use a teeny pea-sized amount daily. I'm already halfway through my second bottle. Honestly, I just want to use a dupe with a serum that's much cheaper, but thinking again, microcurrent treatments are all expensive and FOREO's SERUM SERUM SERUM is considered a cheaper option among other microcurrent serums. Besides the conductive serum is infused with Hyaluronic Acid and other ingredients which should work properly with the BEAR.

What's the purpose of even wanting the FOREO BEAR if you're not using it as suggested. Would there even be results? So, if you're wanting the BEAR, you'll have to think of maintaining the treatment as well. To me, it is indeed pricey, but it's way cheaper than going to the beauty salon.
