Aprilskin Carrot Serum is one of the products from Aprilskin's Real Carrotene Range. This range is focused on acne-care to get rid of and prevent future acne. Carrot itself is a Vitamin A derived which makes it a natural retinol and the carrotene range has potent carrot extract in it. This range has launched quite some time ago but recently had an upgrade in packaging and formulation. It's currently in Malaysia but hasn't yet launched in certain countries. What is Aprilskin Real Carrotene Serum?
Aprilskin Real Carrotene Blemish Clear Serum is a daily acne-treating serum that heals and prevents future breakouts. It's said to be powered by 20,000ppm niacinamide and beta-carotene and contains 10 times the amount of carrot water and carrot protein than their previous 1.0 version. This serum is aimed to stop the acne cycle in its tracks and speed up the skin cell regeneration.

Ingredients
Looking into the full list ingredients of Aprilskin Real Carrotene Blemish Clear Serum it's key ingredients are Carrot, Niacinamide, Hyaluronic Acid and Plant Extracts. Their carrotene line is promised with 10ppm of carrot water, 10,000ppm of carrot seed oil and 300pm of carrot proteins extracted from 100% pure carrots which make this serum already a gem as carrot extracts have high powers in skincare.
With the mixture of Niacinamide and Hyaluronic Acid, this carrotene serum would certainly give the skin ample hydration as these ingredients work great with carrot extracts.
Aprilskin also promises a non-comedogenic serum which should be great for acne-skin. Even the plant extracts used such as Cica and Tea Tree are well-known ingredients to help treat acne too. So this serum should definitely be great for acne.
Aprilskin had actually enhanced their serum formulation for their 2.0 serum. I checked online and the ingredients on the packaging they were different. The ones you find online are their old formulation which the 2.0 formulation has a few added ingredients in the list. The one in my post is also from the old formulation because I couldn't find the new one to copy-paste online. LOL... I'll update that once I find it. In the meantime, you can refer to the picture in my Instagram post.
Packaging
The packaging sure is very pleasing to look. The carrot serum I own is Aprilskin's newest version. Their old packaging was cute too with a carrot picture in the middle, but the 2.0 packaging does not have it. However, I like the new packaging better, to me its certainly an upgrade. I love how elegant it looks with the orangy gold cap and a matte semi see-through plastic bottle. It is designed neatly and thank god it isn't bulky. I also love that it comes in a pump making it more hygienic to use each time. The pump works perfectly to get just the right amount of serum out which makes it easy to maintain a clean bottle throughout usage. I had no issues with spills or a dirty bottle.
Texture
The serum is milky white with a very light cream viscosity but it is not runny at all. It absorbs well and super lightweight too. It may feel a bit oily at first but once the serum is fully absorbed it creates a very pleasing smooth skin.
Scent-Wise
Aprilskin describes it to have a very earthy scent. To me, it smells like herbs, it has a very familiar scent but I can't put it in words. LOL... However, you can say that it does have quite a woody scent since its perfuming comes from Eucalyptus Globulus Leaf Oil. I see that they also use Bergamot Fruit Oil but probably not much because I can't seem to scent any fruity scent from the strong herb scent. If you're wondering if the scent is bothering, well to me it isn't. I'm fine with the scent.
Experience
I've just tried this recently and haven't fully seen its potential yet. But it been almost a week already and I could see quite obvious changes to my skin. I had a quite a bad breakout the last few weeks and now my skin is in healing phase from acne. I've been using Aprilskin's Carrotene range in my night routine for around a week already and I'm waking up every day seeing clearer hydrated skin. Aprilskin Carrotene line seems to work really well in drying up acne and clearing them too. I still see visible redness and acne marks though, but feeling my skin all the bumps are gone and my skin definitely feels smoother and plump.

Okay, firstly I'm sorry I can't really show the big difference. I skipped about a week of taking photos of my skin because I was staying at my parents, so I didn't have time to bother much about blogpost content. During that time also I had quite a breakout, probably because of hormones or because of Retinol. I'm still unsure but I stopped using retinol as soon as I tried Aprilskin's carotene range which was on 11 JAN 2020.
I like to start new routines on Monday so I could simply keep track. So I tried the carrotene range for almost a week. The after result date is wrong, it's supposed to be 16 JAN 21. I don't have a picture of my skin while I had the breakout, the last photo I shot was on 2 JAN 21 which was when my skin just started to breakout. So if you look at by glance you won't notice much difference.
However, what I experienced is that for the week that I tried the Carrotene range, it really did help reduce my acne and dried it up faster too. Try to look closely and you'll see a reduction in acne too but the redness is still obvious.
Overall Thoughts
The best thing about this serum is that it doesn't leave a sticky feeling after application. I felt a bit awkward at first because most of my night routines leave quite a bit of sticky feeling after application but this one does not and it's still hydrating. I don't feel any dryness to the skin at all. Which makes my night routine even better as I sleep I don't have to worry getting my cheeks on the pillow that much as I usually do. Overall, I find this serum to do what it says but I'm expecting better results in a few weeks to come. I'll post the results here then.
