SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER THE MUSICAL LIVE IN MALAYSIA

SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER THE MUSICAL IN MALAYSIA

Hey peeps! So remember my posts on instagram a few weeks back for the Saturday Night Fever Musical here in Malaysia? Well, I know I said I'll update a post just shortly after that, but I didn't right? Please forgive me and understand that I had a lot to cope with for this month and 2 hands were just not enough. So finally I have a little bit of spare time to share with you guys about my thought on the musical. I know the show is already over, but still I wanna share this post. Who knows maybe you guys might wanna catch this musical at other countries after this.

SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER THE MUSICAL IN MALAYSIA

So the musical took place at Istana Budaya and somehow the set reminded me of Jersey Boys which was one of the best musicals I have ever watched. If you guys haven't heared about Saturday Night Fever the movie featuring John Travolta before, I bet you guys must be either the same generation as me or younger. This movie was a hit during our parents generation and Bee Gee's too. I came to know most of Bee Gee's Hits since Syafiq keeps on playing them in the car. HAHAHA... but I have to admit that their songs are really nice, especially the hits such as Staying Alive and I can't remember the rest. LOL

Anyways, this musical is leaded by Brandon Rubendall playing Tony Manero and Jenna Rubaii playing Stephanie Mangano. Their dance moves were amazing, made me want to dance as well. I was totally entertained by their choreography along with some of Bee Gee's popular hits. The sets were outstanding, also were the lighting designs. I don't know other people but I get more excited seeing theatres from the art perspective. Till now I still can't get over how they made the set look just like the San Francisco Bridge. (If I'm not mistaken). The songs sang were not all 100% Bee Gee's songs, they even made a few changes in rhythm and style of the songs. 'Staying Alive' was sang mostly throughout the show but in different versions. But still the original version was the best.

Overall I won't say this is one of the best shows I have watched. The show was exciting at first since it started up with Bee Gee's smash hit 'Staying Alive' but then I kinda lost focus along the show. Maybe because I didn't watch the movie, so the plot seemed a bit draggy for me. Somehow I also didn't feel that the actors did their best for that night. Since it was the first show, so its understandable. But I was totally amazed with the 2nd lead role for the actress. I can't remember her name, but my attention was more to her rather than the lead casts. She sang her solo part amazingly, gave me goosebumps as well.

Its such a pity that I didn't have time to join the other media's for a tour backstage, if not I would have totally shared with you guys. I also am curious how award-winning musicals look like backstage, how they manage all their sets and props. Cause I've handled backstage for small theatres before, during my diploma years, and that was tough already. LOL...

Anyways, this is just my opinion. It could totally be different from yours.
